ACORN has been working with a community in the Altai Republic, an area in Western Siberia, in the Russian Federation. The Altai republic borders with China, Mongolia and Kazakhstan, and is situated in the very center of Asia. It is a sparsely populated mountainous region with an emphasis on agriculture and mining. There are approximately 220,000 people of which sixty thousand are native Altai people. Other people groups include the Russian and Kazakh peoples.

ACORN has been facilitating local Children's Rehabilitation Services since 2002 with an experienced physiotherapist training local staff. We're currently looking for another qualified physiotherapist (preferably with paediatric experience) to assist in this work.

ACORN has also implemented a project to support the victims of the recent earthquakes in this region. Food packages were distributed and other practical help was provided.
